When It Comes to Wage Abuses, It?s Not Just the Nail Salons
Recently, employees of gas stations in Long Island have filed claims for withheld wages. Many of these employees are immigrants from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Nepal and are owed as much as $8,600. The immigrants are so poor that as many as 25 to 30 of them sleep on the floor of houses owned by managers of the gas stations.
