Unite Here, an American hotel union, has filed charges against Anbang and three of its US hotels for failing to supply information regarding the company’s ownership and sources of financing. Anbang, which was a relatively unknown insurance conglomerate in China, has made multiple billion-dollar acquisitions in the past few years, and now owns around $300 billion in assets. Ownership of the company has been in question since last year, and data has shown that Anbang is owned by a multitude of connected companies, many of which share contact information. By filing unfair labor practice charges against Anbang with the NLRB, Unite Here hopes that Anbang will be compelled to disclose the information they are seeking.
