Who Will Replace Nuclear Power's Aging Work Force?
Concern is growing about the number of workers nearing retirement age in the nuclear power industry. As its workforce ages, current estimates hold that more than 100,000 skilled positions will need to be replaced by 2018. Although the industry is working with colleges and universities to recruit qualified workers, the situation is worsened by rising turnover in those positions. Industry analysts say a younger workforce is necessary to maintain innovation in the field.
