Whole Foods CEO: Obamacare ?Escape Clause? Pushes Employees Down to Part-Time Work
In an interview with Fox News, Whole Foods CEO, John Mackey, said that Obamacare was partially to blame for his company?s shift toward a more part-time workforce. The company employs about 80,000 employees and traditionally has had about 75% of those at full-time status. Mr. Mackey says that because of the inflexibility of some of the minimum requirements of the plans under Obamacare, the cost of full-time staff for the company has gone up, and as such the company is looking to shift its workforce to 70% full-time in the near future. Mr. Mackey did have positive things to say about Obamacare, commenting that the state exchanges have created more competition.
