Widespread oil theft in Nigeria threatening oil workers' safety
In Nigeria, large-scale theft from oil pipelines has been occurring, costing the country billions in revenue and causing some oil companies to shut down their fields. Oil workers in the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) union held rallies on Thursday to express recent safety concerns regarding the widespread oil theft. The union announced that if the government does not make tangible progress to address the worker safety issues, the oil workers will go on strike.
