Wisconsin Asks Court to Throw Out Unions' Lawsuit to Block State Labor Law
The Wisconsin Governor's administration has filed a dismissal request in court, asking that a lawsuit challenging the legality of a law be thrown out. The law limits public workers' collective bargaining rights, requires annual re-certification votes and makes dues payment voluntary. The law exempts police and firefighters. The challenge to the law was filed in late March by unions representing state workers, firefighters and public safety officers. A judge has issued an order that blocked the law from going into effect until further judicial review.
