Wisconsin factory workers are displaced by a move to Mexico
A family-owned company, Hufcor, located in Janesville, Wisconsin for the past 120 years has been acquired by a private-equity firm OpenGate Capital, displacing 166 workers. Workers say that the company treated people like they were family and now with OpenGate shutting down the Hufcor factory and moving to Mexico they are just a number. The workers and their union protested and pressed lawmakers to try and reverse the decision. Hufcor workers who are losing their jobs will receive federal trade adjustment assistance to help them return to school.
