Wisconsin judge: WERC in contempt of union decision
A Wisconsin judge has ruled that a prior ruling striking down bargaining restrictions as unconstitutional applies to all school district or municipal worker union. The confusion arose as a result of the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission preparing to carry out more than 400 school district union certification elections in line with the mandate of the struck down law. Even after the judge issued an injunction barring the commission from enforcing the law, recertification elections and decertification of some unions continued. Although the law was found unconstitutional for all municipal employees? unions, state employees? unions remain restricted in what they can negotiate over.
