Worker shortages in Australia exacerbated by long processing times for visas
In Australia, there is currently a high demand for skilled workers across many industries, including the corporate sphere and the health and construction industries. However, extremely long visa processing times are impeding potential workers and students from entering the country. The long wait times are being caused by labor shortages in immigration offices and reflect the consequences of border closures during the pandemic. In order to address these pressing economic and labor issues, the Australian government will be holding a national Job and Skills Summit this week to discuss possible solutions.
