Workers afraid to work in states that reopen not eligible for unemployment
A number of states will be reopening this coming week in an attempt to restore the economy. Public health experts have advised against reopening businesses due to the threat of coronavirus exposure. Workers who will be expected to report for duty in restaurants, nail salons, and other businesses next week will be ineligible for unemployment should they refuse to work out of fear of the coronavirus. While some businesses have decided to remain closed due to employee concerns, states that are reopening will ultimately be putting workers in a precarious situation.
