Workers allege union busting at government contractor in Georgia
Union organizers have provided audio files that amount to what they claim is an Unfair Labor Practice at an Iron Mountain plant. The audio files reveal a manager of the fired transportation worker confronting the worker about his efforts to organize the plant just days before he was fired. While the manager never explicitly states that there is a relationship between the decision to terminate the employee and the employee?s organizing activities, this case is significant because it is rare that audio evidence emerges in an Unfair Labor Practice case and even rarer when the employer is a government contractor. Iron Mountain?s official statement is that the employee was terminated for cause and for very specific non-union-related reasons. The case is currently proceeding through the NLRB?s litigation process.
