Workers are calling out sick and employers are scrambling to cover
New COVID-19 cases are soaring above 800,000 a day leaving many workplaces very short staffed. Across the country workers are calling out sick in droves. United Airlines said nearly a third of their workforce has called out on one day alone and a community health center in Washington DC said that half of their COVID-19 response team has tested positive over the past few weeks. Because of this some workplaces are closing early, opening later, temporarily changing their schedules, or closing altogether. MOM's Organic Market has offered a $2 per hour bonus for their employees who work all their scheduled shifts within any pay period.
