1,400 members of Unite Here went on strike against four major San Francisco hotels yesterday. The president of San Francisco Unite Here Local 2 said the walkout would last two weeks and hoped that it would encourage meaningful negotiations. As of right now union locals in Los Angeles and Washington, where contract disputes are also occurring, have no plan to join in the strike.
