Workers at Alabama Plant Vote to Join the U.A.W.
In Piedmont, Alabama, workers of an auto parts manufacturer voted on Wednesday to be represented by the United Auto Workers (UAW) union. Employees of the plant have cited issues such as increased use of temporary workers and a wage cap as reasons for wanting to join the UAW. Their employer had begun to substitute full-time employees for temps to avoid paying such high costs in benefits.
