Workers At Oakland Airport, Port of Oakland Staging 1-Day Strike
On Monday night, Oakland airport workers began picketing, kicking off a one day strike at the airport and port, which is expected to be affected on Tuesday. The workers say that they are protesting unfair labor practices and a failure to bargain in good faith by the Port's board. The workers say that they are not planning to strike during the holidays, but want people to understand what they are dealing with. Port officials said that they were hoping to stop the strike, saying it would only hurt other workers. The two parties are meeting with an arbitrator at the end of November.
