Workers building WCup stadium remain on strike
Brazilian workers constructing the stadium from the 2014 World Cup entered their second week of striking. The strike is over pay and benefits. Workers voted to extend the strike after rejecting an offer from the construction companies. The companies say that they are disappointed the workers did not accept their offer, which they said was very generous, and that if the strike continued it could delay completion of the project. Workers at another stadium site for the World Cup also decided to continue striking, despite a court order mandating that they return to work. Other World Cup sites have also experienced labor strikes.
