Worker's compensation reform could delay borrowing
Illinois legislators are pushing to link the reform of worker's compensation to borrowing money to pay for the state's bills. Opponents to linking the two bills say that linking them will only slow them down, which will hurt businesses who need to get paid. Those who want to link the bills say that they want to push the others to reform worker's compensation with them. Illinois has the second-highest worker's compensation rates in the country, and both sides agree that reform is necessary. Groups and businesses who are not being paid have asked the government to find a way to pay them.
