Workers fear a Bethlehem Steel replay
Auto workers at a GM plant in Baltimore are concerned that, if the company were to collapse into bankruptcy, they would lose their guaranteed retirement benefits. GM already has plans to close the plant; however, current and former workers are worried that more is at stake than lost jobs. Just over two years ago, the Bethleham Steel Corp. went into bankruptcy in Baltimore, stripping 100,000 retired steelworkers of their benefits.
