Workers in Argentina participate in widespread strike action to protest recent government reforms
Unionized workers in Argentina marched in Buenos Aires to protest against new government reforms that were implemented to decrease the government budget deficit. The reforms would deregulate protections for businesses and consumers, and favor privatization of public corporations. Argentina’s newly elected president, Javier Milei, is responsible for these changes, and his main campaign focus was to cut government spending and fight hyperinflation. Workers all around the country have taken strike action, and the movement led to the disruption of airline flights due to the complete shutdown of Aerolíneas Argentina operations. The government is enforcing anti-picketing measures to reduce the disruptions from protestors in the streets.
