Workers in Naples, Florida cannot afford to live in the city, causing staffing shortages as employers struggle to attract and retain workers
Naples, Florida is one of the richest zip codes in the US; however, the city's lack of affordable housing has led to persistent staffing shortages. More than ninety percent of the city's employees cannot afford to live in the city and have to commute there for work. As a result, there are shortages of essential workers like police officers and firefighters, and the Naples local government has been struggling to attract and retain staff. Some employers have gone so far as to collaborate with hotels to provide housing to maintain their workforces.
