Workers rally outside of BlackRock to support striking Alabama coalminers
Coal miners and union members from across the country rallied in front of New York City's BlackRock office on Wednesday morning in support of Alabama Warrior Met Coal miners. Over 1,000 workers from two coal mines in Brookwood, Alabama have been on strike since April. As the company has cut pay and benefits, gotten stricter on attendance, and made healthcare more expensive for workers, workers say they brought the company out of bankruptcy in 2015 and they deserve to get back what they had. The company brought in replacement workers but have been running below capacity. Coal miners from Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia along with representatives from labor unions like the AFL-CIO attended the rally.
