Workers strike over lack of coronavirus protections
Workers who are deemed “essential” such as delivery, warehouse, and gig economy workers went on strike at the beginning of this week to protest a lack of coronavirus protections. Approximately 200,000 Instacart grocery delivery workers are participating in this strike. Additionally, workers in other countries including Italy and France are protesting inadequate protection and wages. While Amazon has received backlash for firing an employee who was quarantining at home, the firm has stated that the employee received numerous warnings for violating social distancing recommendations, prior to his termination.
