Workforce burnout continuing to impact hospitals post-pandemic, particularly nurses
The demand for healthcare services is on the rise, however, the healthcare industry is struggling to meet the needs of an aging US population amidst the continued stress of covid infections. In the United States, there is a severe shortage of healthcare workers. Nurses are, in particular, suffering from overwork and burnout and this has led to high attrition rates. Furthermore, workplace violence has been on the rise among nursing and medical assistants. In order to address these concerns, industry experts argue that healthcare professionals need better workplace protections to feel valued by their employers and supported to share their concerns.
