Workplace Pensions 'Under Threat'
The United Kingdom will begin a new pension plan sometime in 2012. The plan, called Personal Accounts, will take the place of employer pension plans. The hope is to achieve wider coverage and employees can be auto-enrolled if they do not have another option through their employer. While the department of Works and Pensions says that this will create pensions for workers that otherwise would not have one, there are some questions about the effectiveness of getting employees enrolled and what will happen to existing pension plans.
