Yale grad students pledge hunger strike to press union bid
In an attempt to bring Yale University to the bargaining table, eight members of its graduate student union began a hunger strike yesterday. The strike is currently taking place in front of Yale President Peter Salovey's home. Graduate students voted to unionize in February, but the university is challenging the voting process; instead of the graduate school voting as a whole, eight departments voted separately. The administration believes the hunger strike is unnecessary and a threat to the students' health.
