Yale Graduate Students Shut Down Streets At Commencement
Over a thousand protesters gathered outside Yale’s Monday commencement ceremony to voice their outrage concerning the opposition of graduate student unionization earlier in the term. UNITE HERE, the union representing Yale’s graduate students, has been attempting to organize bargaining sessions with the University since the February unionization elections. Professors and students at the law school have expressed beliefs that the University’s refusal to negotiate during an appeal of the vote is illegal. Yale denounced the ‘disruption’ the protesters caused during the commencement events.
