You have to work 100 hours a week to get by on minimum wage in these states
On Tuesday, the Alliance for a Just Society issued a report stating that workers in Hawaii and Virginia must work over 100 hours a week just to meet the living wage threshold. The report found that the average living wage in America is now around $16.97 an hour. Accounting for inflation, the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour is actually lower than the minimum wage back in 1968. The hourly living wage in Hawaii is $21.44, so workers making $7.25 must work 110.7 hours a week to to meet this living wage.
