Young workers say their age holds them back
An increasing number of workers in their 20s and 30s say they are being passed over for jobs because they are seen as being too young, and more reverse age discrimination claims are ending up in court. In a recent case brought before the U.S. Supreme Court, employees brought an age discrimination suit against a division of General Dynamics Land Systems, when special pay or benefit packages were offered only to older employees. The court?s ruling in this case could lead to an expansion of the 1967 Age Discrimination in Employment Act, which currently protects workers ages 40 and older from job discrimination.
