Colorado Legislators Propose Greater Workplace Protections
Lawmakers in Colorado have proposed a new piece of legislation which would strengthen workplace harassment protections. The proposed legislation would change things for employers by limiting the use of confidentiality agreements in court, and potentially make businesses liable even if a person doesn’t come forward internally before filing a lawsuit. For employees the proposed legislation would affect employees by allowing independent contractors, subcontractors and unpaid interns to file harassment claims. The situation in Colorado highlights the trend of states proposing new legislation to strengthen their workplace protections.
