Amazon employees around the world plan to strike on Black Friday
Amazon workers in twenty countries are set to take strike action on Black Friday, one of the biggest shopping holidays of the year. Employees are demanding better worker rights, and for Amazon to take greater responsibility in the fight against climate change. The strike action is a part of the Make Amazon Pay campaign, and the campaign has pushed for Amazon to pay workers more, respect the right to unionize, pay the proper amount of corporate taxes, and become more environmentally friendly. The group leading the charge is UNI Global Union which is based in Switzerland, and the campaign is made up of eighty other trade unions and workers' rights organizations. Strike action is set to occur in major cities in the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, Brazil, and other countries, and will likely result in significant disruptions to the processing and shipping of Amazon packages.
