Amazon raises contracted delivery driver wages, as unionization efforts increase
Amazon announced earlier this week that it will increase contracted delivery driver pay by around two dollars per hour. The average national pay will now be $22/hour, while previously the wages for contracted delivery drivers were $20.50/hour. The increase in wages will help the company’s delivery service partner companies to better attract new workers and retain current employees. Amazon is also investing over $2 billion into its delivery service partners. The wage increase comes as more contracted Amazon delivery drivers are joining union organization efforts. Amazon is considered a joint employer of contracted delivery drivers and would be responsible for bargaining with the worker union if efforts are successful.
