UAW Staff United files unfair labor practice claim against UAW management
Employees at the United Auto Workers union have claimed that the union violated labor laws by firing a worker for participating in internal union organizing efforts. Workers formed the UAW Staff United union earlier this year, and the union represents over thirty employees. The United Auto Workers union is known for fighting for union workers and advocating for higher salaries and comprehensive employee benefits. Unionized workers state that the UAW fights for all these measures for workers a part of UAW unions, but will not grant the union’s own workers the same pay and benefits. UAW Staff United has filed an unfair labor practice claim against UAW and states that UAW has delayed negotiations for more than a year. Negotiations between the UAW and the union began last August, and the two parties have still not reached a contract agreement. UAW Staff United says UAW is using the same union-busting tactics as the corporations it fights against.
