As Americans become stingier with their tipping habits, service workers' compensations take a hit
Tipping is an essential part of service workers' compensation and a longstanding social norm in the US. However, recently, Americans have not been tipping as well as they had previously been during the pandemic. This decline in tipping enthusiasm may be a result of inflationary pressures that have imposed financial strains on many Americans. As a result, though, service workers have been struggling financially, and this has caused gig workers in particular to begin to push for wage guarantees.
