China Pressuring Wal - Mart to Form Unions
The All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) wants Wal-Mart to establish trade unions in order to protect workers legal rights concerning wages, vacations and discharge polices. An ACFTU official said that Wal-Mart has been unresponsive to unionization efforts. According to Chinese law, all workers have the right to join a trade union, and companies that prevent workers from joining their trade union can be punished.
