Companies Take Call Centers to Prisons
Some companies are finding an alternative to offshoring in the American prison system. Perry Johnson Inc., a consulting company, opened a call center in an Oregon prison instead of relocating to India. Proponents of this new trend say that it keeps companies in America and is beneficial to inmates. Critics say that this is an abuse of labor, as the inmates are paid well below minimum wage.
