Gap to Settle Employee Clothes Suit
The Gap has reached a tentative settlement with employees who sued the company for forcing them to buy and wear the company's clothes at work. This practice violates a California state labor law that requires companies to pay for workers' uniforms. The workers wanted to be reimbursed for the money they had spent on company clothes. Abercrombie & Fitch and Polo Ralph Lauren face similar lawsuits over their employee dress policies.
