Nigerian police attack strikers
Nigerian unions called a strike on Monday in protest of significant government increases in the prices of gasoline, kerosene and diesel. Nigerian courts declared the strike illegal. Violence broke out at a labor rally held on Tuesday, when police fired guns into the air and beat up union workers and journalists. The police also arrested 88 strikers after the raid.
