NYC set to pass more protections for delivery workers
The New York City Council will be passing legislation to improve working conditions for app-based food delivery service workers. The legislation package would include setting a minimum wage, prohibiting apps from charging fees for workers to receive their pay and for insulated bags, and requiring the companies to disclose their tipping policies. Grubhub has spoken out in support of this new round of legislation. Companies that do not comply will face fines and could have their licenses to operate in NYC suspended.
