Officials Discuss Details of Bush's Immigrant Worker Plan
Government officials met yesterday to discuss the details of Bush's guest worker program. Guest workers would be granted temporary work permits for an initial period of three years, which could be renewed several times. The workers could eventually apply for permanent residency without leaving the United States, as well as securing legal status for their families.
