Overtime pay: Don't bank on it
A proposed change to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) would raise the minimum salary; below which workers are eligible for overtime pay. The new proposal also details the job duties that describe which employees are exempt from overtime. Many employers are happy that the law has been clarified. Labor groups say the increase in the salary cutoff is still too low and fear that under the new plan highly compensated employees will be made ineligible under changes to the job duties.
