Seattle Teachers Ratify Three-Year Contract, Ending Labor Dispute
On Sunday, approximately 5,000 teachers and support staff within the Seattle school districts voted in favor of a new three-year contract. Last Wednesday the teachers' ended a large strike that caused 53,000 students to miss six days of school. This new contact no longer bases teachers' pay off of students' performance on tests, and the employees will see a 9.5% wage increase over the next three years.
