Shy bladders a no go for workers taking drug tests
As workplace drug testing becomes more widespread, some workers find themselves unable to provide adequate samples due to shy bladder syndrome. Experts say that this phobia, known as paruresis, is psychological. Workers can face discharge if employers regard such situations as a refusal to take the test. The answer to this problem may be found in alternative screening methods that test specimens of hair, saliva or sweat.
