U.N. Council Focuses on Business World
The U.N. Security Council has called on world business leaders to promote peace and development by creating jobs. World Bank President James Wolfensohn is working to create conditions more favorable to business so that opportunities for employment can flourish. Heinrich von Pierer, president and chief executive officer of the German industrial giant Siemens AG, called for a public-private partnership to build schools, improve health care and transfer knowledge and technology from rich nations to developing countries.
