Union Workers Approve Caterpillar Deal
Members of the United Auto Workers (UAW) have approved a six-year contract with Caterpillar Inc., ending a nine-month stalemate and avoiding a strike. The deal includes a new two-tiered wage scale that will make UAW-represented plants competitive with other Caterpillar factories. Caterpillar had threatened to move to nonunion plants if these concessions were not made.
