United Airlines May Face Deeper Challenges
In a union representation vote, mechanics at United Airlines voted to oust the International Association of Machinists in favor of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA).The AMFA is seen as a more militant union with a reputation for not giving in to the demands of management. Labor relations experts speculate that the desire to change union representation was brought about by frustrations over pay cuts and decreased job security.
