USPS and National Association of Letter Carriers reach tentative contract agreement
The United States Postal Service has reached a new collective bargaining agreement with the National Association of Letter Carriers. The National Association of Letter Carriers is the union that represents two hundred thousand USPS city mail carriers. The union and the USPS have been in contract negotiations for the past twenty months, and the two parties reached a deal late last week. The new contract will last until 2026, and retroactively applied to 2023 and 2024. The contract will raise wages by 1.3 percent three times, with two of the wage increases being applied retroactively. The contract also requires all USPS trucks to have air conditioning units, and the current fleet of USPS vehicles are being replaced with new Next Generation Delivery vehicles that are equipped with air conditioning units. The agreement improved overtime protections and increased overtime pay rates.
