Four-day work week proposed as means to resolve morale issues and exodus of health care workers in the UK
The campaign promoting four-day work weeks has recently encouraged the NHS to instill this shortened work week schedule as a means to mitigate burnout and high turnover amongst healthcare workers in the UK. Health services have been struggling with an exodus of workers, low morale, and walkouts from dissatisfied workers. As a result, the 4 Day Week Campaign is recommending a pilot within the NHS, as its first pilot with various UK companies was successful in reducing sickness rates and staff turnover of those workforces. Additionally, reports have suggested that better usage of technology with the automation of certain tasks could also trickle down to staff and relieve some of the overwork health workers are experiencing.
