Amazon workers in North Carolina to vote on unionization next month
Workers at an Amazon warehouse in North Carolina will have a unionization vote in February, according to the group seeking to organize the employees. Carolina Amazonians United for Solidarity & Empowerment, or CAUSE, submitted a petition to unionize in December in an attempt to gain higher wages and better working conditions. A spokesperson for Amazon replied that the vote was unnecessary, citing the warehouse's "strong safety record" and wages over twice the state's minimum wage. If successful, the warehouse would be the second site to unionize, after the warehouse in New York City in 2022.
