Companies See Court Ruling as Support for Diversity
Yesterday, the Supreme Court upheld the affirmative action plans of Michigan University Law School. Many companies supported the university position, and interpret the ruling as a sign to go ahead with their own diversity plans. Companies such as Microsoft and General Motors feel that diversity is very important when it comes to competing in a global marketplace. However, employment experts warn that although employers can consider race as a factor, they must not use a quota system.
